Best Italian Food In Baton Rouge

I could eat Italian food for every meal and never get tired of it. What’s better than pasta, sauce, and garlic bread? If I was in a battlefield and bombs were going off all around me, and someone handed me a bowl of chicken fettuccine alfredo, I would feel safe. So safe. Here’s a list of the best Italian spots in Baton Rouge. You can trust me.

  • Monjunis Italian Cafe

Monjunis is a Baton Rouge classic. I can’t even count how many times I’ve been there. Let me set the scene. First, you eat as much of the garlic bread as they’ll let you get away with. Second, you order the meatball nacho’s which is meatballs, cheese, and marinara on more garlic bread. Lastly, you order the spaghetti with two meatballs or the chicken alfredo depending on what the vibes are like. You drive home, and you dream of the next time you get to go back. The end.

  • Bistro Italia

Located in an unassuming shopping center, Bistro Italia may be one of the most pleasant surprises I've ever had when trying a new restaurant. Recommended by my sister, I had heard that Bistro Italia was good. But nothing prepared me for the heavenly dishes that arrived at our table. Massive portion sizes, a friendly staff, and a casual environment all add to the allure of Bistro Italia. It quickly rose to one of our go-to’s, for take-out or a causal dinner in Baton Rouge.

  • New York Pizza and Pasta

Was this restaurant opened in what used to be an Arby’s? Yes. Do we care? Absolutely not. This place is awesome. I’ve enjoyed both the pizza and the traditional Italian dishes from here. The food is really good and the owners are friendly, salt of the Earth type people. The last time I had their lobster ravioli, it made me a better husband and father.
